I love the look of a wooden American flag in place of a door wreath to celebrate the 4th of July. Here are some flags you can buy online.
Beautiful, yes, but not FREE!!
I used wood from my scrap pile, it only took about 3 or 4 cuts. You could make this flag any size based on the materials you have or based on the size of the space you want to hang it.
I constructed the flag with pocket holes using my new Kreg Jig System (I absolutely love this thing and it’s so easy to use!)
I bought a package of wooden stars at JoAnn’s. Oops, you can call me a liar! ALMOST free.
I then primed the stripes and painted the background for the stars navy blue
I added D-Ring Hangers and Jute to hang it.
Scrap felt to the back so it doesn’t scratch my front door
Lastly, I spray painted a coat of polyurethane on the flag to weather proof it.
I love having something a little different than a wreath to hang on my door
Here is a close up of my “Doorbell Sign” I got on Etsy awhile ago
This project was simple,
free ALMOST free, and took me about an hour or so to finish (minus paint drying time)
Do you have any 4th of July projects to share? I am thinking of making a second one for my backyard!!
I just love my front yard, it has come A LONG WAY since we moved in. I’ll have to share before and after photos in another post.
Happy 4th of July Crafting!! I would love it if you shared your ideas and projects with me!!
