California Adventure

As promised, here are our Top 10 Things to do at Disney’s California Adventure with Young Kids. Last week, I shared my Disneyland Top 10, hope you liked my suggestions. I would love to hear your ideas too!! If you have pointers or favorites, please share them in the comments section below!!

Radiator Springs Racers

Radiator Springs

Between Disneyland and California Adventure, this may have been my favorite ride!! We got there early and were each able to ride twice between fast passes and the single rider line. Note: you need to be 7 years old to ride in the single rider line. What they have done here is just amazing. It’s a fun ride, but the characters throughout the ride are just incredible. So worth the wait, even if you have to stand in line for awhile. This is the only Fastpass you can hold onto in addition to another in the park. Fastpass tickets usually run out pretty quick, so you should be there in line when the park opens.

Cars Land

Flos V8 Cafe

Cars Land in General has tons of stuff for the kids to do. My boys loved it. It’s also a great place to get photo’s with Mater and Lightening McQueen. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree ride is so fun!  (Height 32 inches).

Flo’s V8 Diner has pretty good food, not a lot of selection. We ate for breakfast one day and lunch another. Lunch was definitely better. Not diner food, more comfort food like open face sandwiches. Again, average. I don’t think it’s worth the price and probably wouldn’t eat here next trip.

Make sure you come back to Cars Land at night to see the town lit up.

World of Color

I hope you don’t get tired of hearing me say this, but this was ANOTHER MUST!! I loved this show so much. A co-worker gave me a tip to get dinner reservations that included the Fastpass to the show. This was so worth it!!! Purely amazing!! We didn’t have to wait in line and our spots were fabulous to see the show. Even regular Fastpass tickets (what you get without the dinner) were not as great as these! Definitely in the preferred seating section.

Wine Country Trattoria at Golden Vine Winery

We dined at this restaurant. We made reservations the day before and the deal was $40 per plate fixed menu. My husband had the Lamb Shank which was so good and the rest of our party chose the Filet Mignon. Yes, we were at a Theme Park!! Crazy. He snapped this photo with his phone!

I also loved the Terrace at the Golden Vine Winery for a break during the day. The kids would have snacks and we would enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. This park definitely caters to both kids and adults!!

A fabulous ride, if you can call it a ride. It feels like you are literally flying over California!! This is an IMAX theater where the seats move. A great show. My 4 year old loved it!! Not for those who get motion sickness!

Disney’s Pixar Parade

Woody parade

Another parade that you have to see. This parade has water, bubbles and all the Pixar Characters. Again, the music and entertainment is so worth it. Remember, get seats early to be in the front and in the shade!!

Tower of Terror

Tower Of Terror

This ride is so scary!! I remember riding the Disney World Version 15 years ago and loving it. I think we went back 4 or 5 times. This time I was so scared…I was sitting beside my 4 year old son…WHO RODE IT TWICE!! He was calling my husband and I chickens…but you know he was braver than us. A must, but enter at your own risk!!

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue

Sully Kids

This is a mellow ride, maybe a nice treat after the Tower of Terror. It’s just down the street. Again, the characters in this ride are so amazing!! I am just blown away by what they have done with this park. The last time I was here I was under-impressed, but that was 2001. Now, I can only say the opposite. Such a great place. The Park Hopper is a must if you are going for multiple days. Meeting Sulley was very fun!

Disney Jr. Live Show

This is great for the little kids, especially if they know the Disney Jr. Shows. They feature Mickey’s Clubhouse, Doc McStuffins, Sophia the Great and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. A cute show. Everyone sits on the floor, so first come first serve. You definitely benefit from arriving early! We did not, and it was hard for the little ones to see.

Carnival Games at Paradise Pier

Probably the place you can spend your money the fastest (and spending money is not hard to do here!!). BUT, it brings you back to the old school carnivals. The prizes are easy to win, we walked away with 2 Large Dumbos and a Large Bullseye…and we had a lot of fun doing it!  We ate dinner and then came here before the World of Color show and it made for a fun evening!!

Other Things Worth Mentioning

California Screamin’: This is the big Roller Coaster at Paradise Pier. We didn’t ride because our kids were not tall enough (Height 48″).

Grizzly River Run: The Water ride of the park. Again we didn’t ride because my older son insisted he didn’t want to get wet. Hopefully they will be up for it when they get bigger

(Height 42″, Grizzly Peak)

Mickey’s Fun Wheel: The Giant Ferris Wheel. I can’t say that I thought this ride was worth it. Unfortunately the day we were there, the staff running it didn’t seem to know what they were doing. It is a lot of stop and go and takes a lot of time.

Toy Story Midway Mania

I somehow missed this ride. Considering how much my boys loved Astro Blasters at Disneyland, I think they would have loved this ride too. A little bummed we missed out, but there is always next time!

I hope you find this post beneficial. Again, please share your own tips for other readers. And I hope you get to visit the Happiest Place on Earth soon. It is well worth it!! We had a fabulous experience.

Weekend Beautiful Blog Party {5}

I know it has been a couple weeks since I have had the Blog Party up and running. We were lucky enough to vacation at Disneyland for the first time with our two boys. Check out my Disneyland Top 10!

I think this is the first time in a long time that I truly “unplugged” from the world and just enjoyed the time with my family, and it was fabulous!

So here are my favorites from our last party:

MyLove2Create, arrow

These crafts from scrap wood by My Love 2 Create are so fun. Even better? She does these with her kids. I love that she’s getting her kids involved and they seem to be having so much fun!! Great ideas, I am always looking for projects I can use things I already have on hand!

This Upholstered Headboard from May Richer Fuller Be is so cool!! I love that she uses a curtain panel for the fabric. What a clever idea. I love the pattern she chose and imagine how easy it would be to change this when you felt like updating!! I am definitely going to try this one at home!
