Bringing an Owl Back to Life

When finding things to decorate your home, it doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult. You don’t need to have fancy power tools or 2 weeks of free time.

Today I am sharing with you an easy way to add your own personal touch to your home for only a few dollars…and a few minutes of your time! Remember all my treasures from my thrift store jackpot last week?

This was one of them….the ugly duckling owl. To be honest, I think this guy is so ugly they should have paid me to take him off their hands.

But for $3.50 I knew I could bring this guy back to life.

Right away I pictured him in a glossy white finish.

The texture of the plaque provides a lot of detail and using a solid color brings this piece of art from outdated to contemporary, fresh, and new.

I love the shadows that the owl reflects at night. The gallery wall is still a work in progress, but I think it fits in beautifully.

Here is another view to show some of the detail in the wood.

Have I convinced you to go out and buy some spray paint yet??

I started painting my lamp today too….remember this one?
