Mineral Spirit Wipes

Do you remember the days when you couldn’t leave the house without a full pack of baby wipes? Or maybe you are like me, and still shopping for the Costco size box. I have my fingers crossed that it won’t be too much longer before we say good bye to diapers forever!!! But I have to say, baby wipes are good for so many more things than just babies. These days you can find any cleaning solution in a wipe form…but I have never seen or been able to find Mineral Spirit Wipes.

Great idea, huh?

I am always running out to the garage to touch up, add another coat, spray paint something quick. There have been so many times that I am cleaning up or touching up, and I wish I had a disposable wipe. Since I couldn’t find them to buy, I decided to make my own. So simple and inexpensive, and…

I LOVE them!!!

Here is what you need:

Mineral Spirit Wipes Supplies

1. Paper Towels (the higher the quality the better–the ones that are thick almost like fabric)

2. Baby Oil

3. Hand Soap

4. An empty container (read on for different options)

5. Mineral Spirits (I chose this odorless version which makes a huge difference)

I used the only paper towels we had in the house…not even sure what brand it was to be honest. Next round though I am going searching for the heavier duty towels.

First you cut the roll in half. Use a serrated knife. At this moment I was wishing I had an electric knife. On my want list now that I have two uses for it (the other being cutting foam for reupholstery projects)

Next I trimmed the fuzzys off

Then mixed up the solution with the following ingredients:

Mineral Spirits Liquid

Add the paper towels–seriously could this be any easier?!?

I made sure it was completely saturated before I removed the inner cardboard.

And that is it!! So easy!

They actually don’t smell so bad…I don’t think you can ever get away with completely odorless mineral spirits, but these wipes are much milder and so easy to use and toss.

  1. Cosco sells blue shop towels which are really nice heavy duty cloth like papet towels and would be perfect for these
